Peterborough United’s run in the 2019/20 FA Cup came to an end at Turf Moor this afternoon, as Burnley ran out 4-2 winners.
The Claret’s Premier League class really showed from the start, with Jay Rodriguez giving them an early lead, before Erik Pieters and Jeff Hendrick scored to move the game out of Posh’s reach.
Posh’s top goal scorer Ivan Toney pulled one back before half time, but Rodriguez grabbed his second of the match not long after the restart to restore the host’s three goal lead.
There was something to cheer for Peterborough United fans late in, with 18-year old striker Ricky Jade Jones finding the back of the net, but it was merely a consolation, as Burnley held on to win 4-2.

As usual, Posh fans took to twitter after the final whistle to share their feelings on today’s defeat. Here is a look at what some of them had to say:
This Posh fan was not too disheartened by the defeat, and felt that the Premier League quality of Burnley shone through.
#pufc once we calmed down Posh did well, if we'd taken the chance at 2-0 things could have been completely different. We didn't lose to a league two outfit they are Premier League and it showed#FACup #BurnleyFC

This Posh fan has an extremely contrasting opinion…
We were shite. Burnley barely put any effort into that 2nd half. Diamond don’t work, simple as but Fergie won’t change it. Have to beat Gillingham next week. #pufc

This Posh supporter felt that the score was only as close as it was because Burnley took their foot off the gas following the opening 25 minutes.
Not having any of this we did well in the end, they took foot off gas after finishing us in 20 minutes. Too many players not good enough above mid table L1 level #pufc

Is this goalkeeper to blame for Posh’s recent poor form?

There has been a lot of negativity following today’s match, but this fan feels like Posh did well against Premier League opposition.
4-2. Bad first half hour, showed to much respect to Burnley, Burnley showed there quality and also played 6/7 first teamers, obviously not nice to concede but we played okay. Sick of negativity from our fans playing a PL team. #PUFC💙

An excellent analogy to round off Peterborough United’s FA Cup campaign for this season.
Posh comfortably beaten. Nothing new learned for Posh. Maddison was better today, if a little selfish at times, Toney was decent but did have some decent chances go begging, great for Jones to get a goal. Back to the league we go. UTP. #pufc
